call for story submissions! Does your school have a success story about RTI2-B that you would like to share? Would your school like the opportunity to be featured in a monthly newsletter or be highlighted at a Tennessee Behavior Supports Project training? If so, please go to the Tennessee Behavior Supports Project website (http://tennesseebsp.org/) and click on “Success Stories” at the bottom of the page. Our team would love to hear about the great things that are happening in your school, and share your story with other schools in Middle Tennessee!

Prepping Your Students for Testing

IMPLEMENTATION TIPS
April is testing season in Tennessee! We know testing often brings on anxiety (in the form of withdrawal, crying, etc.) and different acting out behaviors in our students. In an effort to help prepare students to be successful and avoid some of the undesirable behaviors often associated with testing, here are a few test preparation tips:
  • The leadership team can add “testing” to the expectation matrix and define what each school expectation looks like in the context of testing. This information should then be shared with the rest of the school staff. Also, develop lesson plans to share with the staff for teaching the testing expectations.
  • Teachers and the leadership team should teach the students the testing expectations, just as they did with teaching the expectations in the rest of the school settings at the beginning of the year.
  • Have practice testing situations leading up to the state testing dates. Be sure to use behavior-specific praise when students exhibit appropriate testing behaviors. If your school uses tickets or points, pair delivery of the tickets or points with behavior-specific praise.
